Gambacorta Marsh - March, 2006

Students took "landscape pictures", pictures that showed signs of animals, as well as plants in winter.

This is the Wetland we adopted.  When we went to the marsh I was frreeezing! We saw a Great Blue Heron he (or she) was fishing!  Every thing was dead.  We used binoculars and cameras.  I saw 2 Canada Geese.   by: Kimberly

We went to the The Gambacorta Marsh on the first day of spring. It was very cold, but we still saw a Great Blue Heron, mallards, seagulls, and geese. We also saw Great Blue Heron and raccoon tracks. (and fox scat!) We saw little baby cattails and other plant sprouts. I had a very good time and it was better than being cooped up in a classroom all day!!!!!!!! By: Olivia
I did not go to the wetland this time but it was freezing cold. Most of the plants were all dead. There weren't alot of animals out. I heard they only saw a Great Blue Heron and two Mallards. I heard they saw Great Blue Heron foot prints and Raccoon foot prints. By: Bernadette

I went to the wetlands on 3/20/06. It was freezing out there. I saw a Great Blue Heron. I saw the foot prints of it too. I saw a foot print in the mud that looked like a raccoon foot print. I also saw 2 Mallard ducks. It was fun, but freezing. Some time soon we are going to another marsh and do water tests. All the plants were starting to come back to life. I can’t wait till it’s spring and all the plants are beautiful! By Stephanie

When I went to the marsh I saw two Mallards,  a Great Egret, and too geese, two Killdeer, and two gulls. We saw fox tracks and fox scat. We saw a lot of cattails and one huge bird feather. I think the marsh looked mostly brown with dead grass.   I think the wetland was fun and better than school I wish I could go there every day. By Richard
