The admission procedure begins with gathering information about Elementary Workshop Montessori School through our website.
Parent Tours
Parents attend a school tour where they can observe the children at work in
the classrooms, learn about the Montessori philosophy on which the school
is based, and about the parent cooperative aspect of the school. The Elementary
Workshop Montessori School Open Houses are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 9:00 - 11:30 AM.
Application
Parents send a completed application and the $100 non-refundable application
fee.
Student Visit or
Interview
Prospective Students are invited to the Elementary Workshop Montessori School for an interview.
Older children (5-10) are often asked to come into the classroom for a 1/2
day's visit. After the interview/visit, parents are informed promptly of their
children's acceptance.
Criteria for Acceptance
Children are accepted on a first come first served basis, so long as there
is a place available. We do not screen children through academic testing,
however, we do make an effort to make sure we can truly meet any special
needs children might have. If we cannot, we try to help parents find an alternative
placement. Children applying mid-year will be considered as space is available.
Children are accepted into our school without discrimination on the basis
of race, color, creed or national origin.
Enrollment Contract
Once a child has been accepted, parents sign the enrollment contract which
holds a place for the child. This contract must be accompanied by a $400
non-refundable tuition deposit.
Scholarships
Applications for scholarships must be made at the time of signing the enrollment
contract. The deadline for scholarships is March 15.
Early Applications
Re-enrollment of current students takes place in early February. Most new enrollments take place
before April 1 and the 3- and 4- year old spaces fill quickly.
Note: The Elementary Workshop Montessori School includes
grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 6. To be admitted to the school children must be 2 1/2 years old by September 1 and toilet trained.
