Green Tip from McCrae
So many of you have donated your RecycleBank points to us – so we know you are big recyclers. Remember to recycle the things that you can’t recycle at the curb. It is especially important to recycle batteries properly as they contain heavy metals and other components that are damaging to our planet. There are usually battery recylcing receptacles wherever you find recycling igloos.
Re-enrollment
Remember, re-enrollment documentation must be returned by today to receive the discounted re-enrollment rate.
Recycle Bank Grant
We have reached our goal with RecycleBank thanks to all the EWMS families, friends, newsletter readers and other who have donated their points to us this winter. Because of you, we will receive our grant that will enable us to begin a special environmental education class here next year with former EWMS teacher, Dr. Mary Ann Levan at the helm. Thanks for helping us and the planet at the same time.
The Silent Journey
"The Silent Journey" has been rescheduled for this Saturday, February 20, 2010. If you have not already done so, please let the office know that you are planning to attend. The more, the merrier!
Help Wanted
We have several albums (LPs) that we would like to have burned to discs so we can use them in the classrooms. If you are interested in this job and have the equipment to do it with please see Amy.
Wanted
The art room is again looking for newspaper. If you have a stack, please send it in.
Alumni Update
Josh Morris-Levenson, will play the roll of Dr. Zubritsky in Neil Simon’s “Fools” in Tatnall’s Showcase 2010 production tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday.
Box Tops Challenge and Valentine’s Day
Yesterday was a busy day for the kids here. We celebrated Valentine’s Day belatedly and the morning saw children going from classroom to classroom to deliver their valentines. And then after lunch we celebrated the successful end of the Box Tops for Education Challenge with an ice cream sundae party in each classroom hosted and dipped by Kerry Shweiki, Carrie Saathoff, and Marie Cox. Thanks to all the diligent clipping of Box Tops for Education, we collected 665 Box Tops during our challenge. We appreciate the choices you made as you shopped in the last month. Thanks to Kerry and Donna “Box Tops Maven” Thomas for the great idea, and to Kayla S. and Rhys who did the counting this afternoon!
Start saving now as we plan to repeat this challenge in April around TV Turn-off week!
Green Garden Club
Though nothing is green at the moment, and we can’t see our gardens, the Green Garden Club will be meeting as usual tomorrow afternoon. The kids have watched paper
white narcissus grow and bloom and are now watching bean seeds sprout – creating a garden inside. Please plan to pick up your club member children at 4:00 PM tomorrow.
Conference Days
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, March 5th and Monday, March 8th. As usual, we are hopeful that each of our students will be represented by both parents whenever possible.
If you will need childcare for conference days or just during your conference, please use the attached form and return it to Laura.
