New Parent Orientation Tonight at 6:30 PM, new parents are invited to attend the New Parent Orientation. This is your chance to learn about reporting hours, using the “lunch box mail” system, and all the other things that make this school special. You’ll also have a chance to meet other new parents over refreshments.
Morning Drop-off Routine
Beginning on Monday, September 8, 2008, children may be dropped off at the front of the building between 8:20 and 8:40 AM. There will be two teachers outside at that time to open car doors, and to escort the children into the building. Please have your children wait in the car until a teacher opens the car door.
In order for buses to pass the school safely, please do not park on either side of the street in front of the school between 8:20 and 8:40 in the morning. If you need to come into school, please pull up in front of the church to park.
Did you know …
Several EWMS parents nominated EC2 teacher, Veena Rao, for the Governor’s Award pre-school teacher of the year. Veena will be observed on Friday, September 5th as part of the process.
School Pictures, Monday, September 15
Each year, Susan Patch of Patchwork Photography takes marvelous photos of the EWMS children individually, in sibling groups (if requested) and by class. Individual photos are mounted and displayed in each classroom throughout the year, even if parents do not order photos. Order forms are sent home a week ahead of time and are also available from the Parent Information Center. Photos must be ordered in advance of picture day.
Please dress children in colorful shirts with sleeves. If children will be wearing something special for the photograph, please have them pack a set of clothes to change into afterwards. Three-day children should attend school on Monday, September 15th and should be picked up at the regular time (noon for half-day children, 3:00 PM for full-day children.) There is no obligation to order school photos.
Alumni Update Mary Nash Godden has graduated from Bryn Mawr with a bachelor of arts in history.

Community Theater
Jameson (EII) is again involved in community theater. He has a role in the upcoming production of Assassins at the Wilmington Drama League. The show’s director, Chris Turner, imported from California for this production, is an EWMS alumnus. Though this is not a production for children, we thought our parents might be interested.
Tuition Payment
Please check your accounts; tuition will be withdrawn on Wednesday, September 10th for those families who pay on the 10th of the month.
Hours Opportunity
We are still looking for someone to coordinate our pizza lunch program. This would entail keeping track of which children get pizza and/or juice each week, and sending an updated list to the office so we can order the right number of pizzas. Also, this job would require purchasing juice boxes and delivering the right number to school each Thursday (you would be reimbursed, of course). Please contact Emma if this sounds like the job for you.
Thanks
Barbara, Eileen, Eliane, Elizabeth, Jessica, Kay, Larry, Mark, Marvin, Rajeev, and Vinay, for your help in preparing the school and the classrooms for the start of the school year.
