Assembly Line

At our last assembly of the year, held on Friday, December 16, some Hanukkah goblins showed up to hinder the traveler, Hershel, from lighting the menorah candles.  The children enjoyed seeing their teachers dressed as villagers, goblins, and others as they retold the story of Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins.

Gingerbread (School) House

Our gracious EII students showed no great disappointment at not having won the gingerbread contest.  The winning house, as adjudged by both the celebrity and the popular vote, was created by Concord High School students, which seems like pretty worthy competition for fourth graders.  Congratulations, Concord, and the EII for your excellent effort.

Caroling

The oldest children in the school went to the People’s Settlement on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, to carol for the visitors there.  They sang several seasonal songs and played their recorders as well.

Did You Know

Today is our last school day of 2011.  We return after the Winter Break on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.  Safe travels and a very Happy New Year to all.

Montessori Academy of Christina

If you have not yet done so, please be sure to get your choice paperwork into the Christina School District offices (600 North Lombard Street) by January 11th.  There will be only 8 days remaining once school resumes in January, making scheduling physicals, locating birth certificates, and lining up all the other necessary paperwork quite time-sensitive.  We really want to ensure that everyone who wants a seat in the Montessori Academy of Christina gets in!

Alumni Update

Kimberly Cilento danced several lead roles, including that of the Snow Queen, in the Wilmington Ballet Academy of the Dance production of “The Nutcracker” last weekend.  Kimberly is a junior at Wilmington Friends School and studies dance at the Barbara Sandonato School of Ballet in Philadelphia.

Current student, Greta (EII), was also in the production, dancing roles as a mouse and a bon bon among other things.

Hot Lunch News

Beginning in January, children in kindergarten and older are invited to join the Craft and Cooking Club meeting on Thursday afternoons.

Each week, some of the club members will be creating a delicious soup with Master Chef, Pat McMahon.  The soup will become Friday’s hot lunch option for families.  Attached here is a soup order form.  If you choose to order soup, please return the order form by the first of each week – or, order for the entire soup season in one easy step.
